Top 10 Tips for Becoming a Successful Entrepreneur

Are you feeling unfulfilled by the corporate world? I hear you – that’s why I became an entrepreneur.

The entrepreneur life is full of possible perks: a better work-life balance, income and path to helping others succeed. But it requires innovation, constant learning, self-accountability, excellent time management and perseverance.

If you’re called to start a business of your own, here are my top tips to succeed as an entrepreneur.

1. Don’t wait until you’re ready.

I’m not advising you to leave your current job without a plan, but there will always be an excuse for you not to step out on your own. The unknown is a scary place, but it’s also a rewarding place if you’re willing to work hard to make your dreams come true.

2. Tackle goals little by little.

Big picture planning is great, but chances are you’ll burn out before you reach them if you don’t have smaller goals to keep you motivated in the meantime. Small goals can be sending out your first newsletter, revamping your online presence, or attending a networking event.

3. Find what makes you unique and run with it.

  1. My specialty is teaching health-conscious go-getters to create successful online businesses and inspiring others to live healthy, balanced and conscious lives. Lead with your unique skills and passions and you’ll attract the people you want to work with.

4. Believe in yourself.

The world is full of nay-sayers you should never listen to. So often, our fear around what others think stops us from realizing how attainable our dreams are. So, believe in yourself like no one else will. Journaling your fears and practicing positive affirmations may sound hokey, but they help!

5. Put in the work.

Being an entrepreneur requires you to play lots of different parts, at least in the beginning, before you start outsourcing. Put in the work early on (even for the not-so-fun stuff) and benefit from the results quicker.

6. Do not try to do everything.

The quickest path to burnout is by trying to do everything all out once. Don’t try to be on every social media channel, attend too many events, or otherwise add more to your plate than what you can take on at a time. Entrepreneurship is a marathon, not a race, so don’t take on too many tasks that take you away from your zone of genius. Otherwise, you’ll forget why you love doing what you do.

7. Build a support system.

Your network is crucial. Find like-minded people who can inspire you, share advice, and potentially produce leads. One of my favorite things about working in my business of promoting Kangen water and a healthy lifestyle is the community it comes with.

8. Be consistent.

There will be highs and lows, and you just need to ride them out. Don’t let the circumstances dictate your drive. It’s important to practice gratitude for the opportunity to be in business for yourself. Take every setback as a learning opportunity, and you will become better because of it.

9. Challenge yourself.

Make it a point to regularly step outside of your comfort zone, whether that’s by trying a new networking approach or taking your business model a step further. Remember, no one else is going to push you and - only you - are responsible for your success or failure.

10. Make time for yourself.

Another must to avoid burnout is to set boundaries around your business day. Schedule regular working hours and know when it’s time to call it quits for the evening. The more time you make for your health and wellness in between work, the more you’ll be ready to take on the day’s tasks.
